I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.
Come one, come all to the last open house for 2012 at Three Sisters Springs! Event is this Sat, Feb.11: http://t.co/CYi515em

You know, I've said it before -- there are still plenty of places to get that classic Florida outdoor experience. They may be a little harder to find, and you might have to paddle, wade and claw your way through a little bit of mud to get there -- but they are there!
This past Sunday, Amanda and I launched our kayaks from the Chassahowitzka River Campground in search of some Labor Day weekend fun. There are times when I prefer a laid-back paddle, watching wildlife while gently floating along a scenic waterway somewhere. Then, in complete contradiction, there are those occasions when I like to jump in the boat and find out where the party is happening! Let me tell you, we found the party. It's been a good while since I've seen a gathering like the one we witnessed on the Chassahowitzka River, one where families load up in motorless aluminum jon boats, canoes or whatever else can be found that floats.
I'll put together a scenic Chassahowitzka River paddling video in the future -- but for now, sit back, relax and enjoy the show!
