I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.

Curry Hammock State Park in Marathon will host the Eleventh Annual Florida Keys Birding and Wildlife Festival on Sept. 23-27, 2009. I'm giving you plenty of notice on this event, so mark it on your calendars!Â
On Friday, take a special field trip with professional birder Larry Manfredi and search for pelagic (sea and coastal) birds around the Upper and Middle Keys. There are plenty of other great outdoor activities planned during the event - take a reef or mangrove snorkeling trip or a bike ride along the Overseas Heritage Trail, or check out the Turtle Hospital. Some of the tours require a fee, so make sure and visit the Keys Birding Festival for more information.
If you are interested in camping at Curry Hammock State Park during the festival, I'd recommend going ahead and booking your spot - there are a few campsites still available, and I know they won't last long! Head on over to www.ReserveAmerica.com and lock in a comfy and convenient campsite.
