I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.

Baby gators hatching at Gatorama Credit: Bobby Holland
If you're like many visitors to the Sunshine State, you'd like an opportunity to see some real Florida alligators while you're here. Fortunately for you travelers looking for a tame sort of adventure, you don't have to venture out into the wild to catch a glimpse.
In fact, why don't you get up-close and personal with the help of our friends at Gatorama in Palmdale? Now's a great time to visit because, if you hurry, you can catch their Alligator Hatching Festival that starts this Saturday, Aug. 22, and runs through Sept. 1.
Gatorama even has a "Hatch and Hold" package right now for visitors who want to hold an alligator egg and have the baby gator hatch in their hands.
This place is a delight for nature lovers, and it's not just all about alligators -- you'll also find panthers, bobcats, birds, and crocodiles there.
Visit Gatorama's Web site for more information about the park and festival and for park hours and admission prices.
