I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.
Come one, come all to the last open house for 2012 at Three Sisters Springs! Event is this Sat, Feb.11: http://t.co/CYi515em

If you like off-the-beaten-path parks, well, Colt Creek State Park is the place for you! Located in the Green Swamp Wilderness Area, this 5,000-acre parcel of land is perfect for your next hiking, fishing, birding, geocaching or horseback riding trip. Speaking of horseback riding, the equestrian trails here are a huge draw to the park. On a recent trip out to Colt Creek State Park, I thought I had arrived during a horse show, turns out that are just tons of riders attracted to the property! It's a great place. You can look one direction and see folks fishing along the banks of the lake, and turn your head the other way and see a family out birding near the treeline.Â
Colt Creek State Park is one of the areas highlighted in Polk County's Trek Ten Trails geocaching program, so be sure to check that out!Â
Also, I've put together a video of some scenes from Colt Creek State Park. You can take a look at that here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9ilaYbv_l8
