I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.

Looking for a fantastic place to paddle for the day? The Little Manatee River Canoe Trail is perfect for those lazy summer afternoons when you have that urge to get out on the water. It's an easy 5 miles with banks lined with sweetgum trees, oaks and palmettos. The water is tea-colored, with a white sandy bottom.
The Little Manatee River is designated as an Outstanding Florida Water which serves to protect the water quality and also as recognition of its beauty. The waterway can be paddled further than the 5-mile canoe trail, and there is a great outfitter that can arrange trips and shuttles. Contact the Canoe Outpost for more information on longer trips.
To spice things up even further, take some time to explore Little Manatee River State Park and take a 6.5-mile hike! When you are tuckered out from all the fun, camp out at the park's terrific full facility campground. Hey, this sounds like one of my weekends - looks like I just planned out one of my next trips!
