I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.

Yes, my friends, nature is romantic. Guys, before you head out and do the whole roses, chocolates and the gold earrings thing, consider taking that special someone for an outdoors experience instead. Believe me, a sunset by the water or a nature walk will score you major points in the romance department.
Here's a great example. Hollywood's tourism web site, visitHollywoodFl.org, has a "Top Ten Things To Celebrate Your Love in Hollywood Beach, Florida" list. Guess what the number one item on that list is? Yep, you guessed it - connect with nature.Â
If you're in Hollywood, their suggestion to rent a kayak at the Anne Kolb Nature Center is perfect. Paddle through the mangroves and listen to the sounds of nature. Birding is fantastic here, so bring your camera and take some pictures.Â
I'm sure the next day all the ladies will gather around and swap romantic Valentine's Day stories. Don't be that guy that tried to pull off the ho-hum V-Day card and grocery store bouquet trick. I've armed you with a fantastic way to spend Valentine's Day, so take my advice and enjoy some of the "Real Florida!"
