For fans of Hampton Golf courses, your world just got a little bigger.
The company, already a big presence in Florida, just got a little bigger with its acquisition of Southern Hills in Brooksville.

Southern Hills is one of my favorite courses in that rolling part of the state, a big, fun course that shows off famed designer Pete Dye as his subtle best.

Dye is know for some very radical designs, but Southern Hills is, simply, just a blast to play, with its big, ambling fairways that dip and drop, rise and fall and almost always give you interesting angles into the greens.

The green complexes are adventures in themselves, with challenging swales and valleys. It's a rollicking layout, with elevation changes up to 250 feet. You'll face blind, downhill tee shots and tricky, uphill approaches into the greens.Â

The course can be stretched to 7,500 yards, making it one of the longest in the state.

Hampton is offering memberships to the club. Now this part will make you drool: a membership there will get you onto any Hampton golf course in the southeast. In Florida alone, Hampton has 13 tracks, including such luminaries as North Hampton, Riverwood, Victoria Hills and Sugarloaf Mountain, just to name a handful.
