A native Floridian, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here in Madison County, sharing my knowledge of the best greens in the world. When I'm not writing or hitting the links, I enjoy cruising the back roads on my Softail, looking for a barbecue joint or a conch steak sandwich. So, if you're looking for Florida golf tips and trips, and a little irreverence along the way - sing to me, baby!

The Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, which seems to sprawl all over and around Choctawatchee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico in one of the prettiest parts of the state, recently announced its 2012 golf packages.

But, don't think this is all they will offer this year: Sandestin is one of the most active golf resorts in Florida when it comes to creatively packaging their golf options.

And those options are numerous, with four top-notch courses to choose from. Here they are, with all lodging in either a deluxe condo, villa, townhome or hotel.

- The "4 1/2 star" package gets you a round at the resort's two marquee courses, Burnt Pine and Raven, designed by the acclaimed golf design family of Rees Jones and Robert Trent Jones respectively. The cost for both rounds is $141-$191 depending on the season.

Here's a review I did of Burnt Pine and here's one I did of Raven.

- The "Player's" package includes a round at Raven and Baytowne, a Tom Jackson design. The cost is $113-$174.

- The "Classic" package gets you on Baytowne and the Links course for $99-$173.

Burnt Pine and The Raven are the two stars of the show here, but I've played all four courses and Baytowne and the Links course are both good plays; you won't notice much of a drop-off. The Links showcases Choctawatchee Bay on five holes and Baytowne gives you glimpses of both the Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

The packages include carts and unlimited use of the resort's practice facilities and range balls. This is a big deal for the golfer who, like me, hates those places where they give you an itty-bitty bag of range balls and you're done in a half hour.

They also include free replay rounds booked on the day of play, if available.
