You don't find a ton of hotels that offer their golfing guests practice putting greens. The Homewood Suites by Hilton Palm Beach Gardens has one, out back near the swimming pool.

From there, after a little practice with the putter, it's a short way to Abacoa Golf Club. The all-suites property has an arrangement with the nearby golf club that enables guests to get 10 percent discounts. Homewood Suites will also give you a ride to and from the golf club.

Abacoa is a Joe Lee design, and its rolling fairways show off elevation changes up to 40 feet – that might not sound like much to mountain dwellers, but it's a nice change for Florida golf courses.

The layout is very open in the interior, with lakes and ponds throughout the routing. It's 7,200 yards from the tips, with a slope rating of 137, and has four sets of tees. Abacoa, of course, has its own practice putting green, as well as a large driving range.
