A native Floridian, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here in Madison County, sharing my knowledge of the best greens in the world. When I'm not writing or hitting the links, I enjoy cruising the back roads on my Softail, looking for a barbecue joint or a conch steak sandwich. So, if you're looking for Florida golf tips and trips, and a little irreverence along the way - sing to me, baby!

The Perfect Orlando Golf Itinerary

Let's say you're either headed for Orlando with the kids in the back and the golf clubs in the trunk or you're thinking about it. You know Orlando is a mega golf town and you only have a week to play, while the wife and kids do Disney World.

Don't sweat it. Here's your "perfect Orlando golf itinerary."

Day one: Mystic Dunes. The greens here are sprawling, with undulations you can fall into. The approach shots are hazardous and tricky, and standing on the tee boxes can make you dizzy. What a blast!

Day two: Thirty-six holes of Marriott Golf, at Grande Pines in the morning and Hawk's Landing in the afternoon. Both courses are immaculately groomed.

Day three: Eagle Creek Golf Club was co-designed by an American and an Englishman, and has distinctive elements of both styles.

Day four: Falcon's Fire: It's time to get out of Orlando and make the short drive to Kissimmee. Falcon's Fire is a pretty, upscale, semi-private course that's natural and easy.

Day five: Ridgewood Lakes is another short drive away, in Davenport, a very player-friendly course, with generous fairways, one that is enjoyed by women, seniors and juniors.

Day six: Southern Dunes is in Haines City, a little longer drive, but well worth it. The artistic layout is more than 7,200 yards from the back tees, with more than 100 feet of elevation changes.

Day seven: Bay Hill Club and Lodge. You'll have to be sneaky on this one, because you have to stay at the lodge to play on the course. Besides, what would a golf trip to Orlando be without playing its most well-known course? See the Bay Hill video here.
