I'm a wordsmith, Miami native, mom of two boys and a die-hard Floridian with one pair of closed-toed shoes. We hit the road when the school bell rings to explore everything from citrus tours and sandy shores to toddler-friendly fun and teen-approved thrills. If you're looking for the perfect Florida for your family, you'll find hundreds of ideas right here - from a mom who knows.

You may be familiar with the saying, “Every dog has his day,” but at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton, it’s Sea Turtle Day! Mark your calendar for the seventh annual Sea Turtle Day Saturday, March 3. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. This is a free event (sorry, no dogs allowed)!
Here is what you can see and do at Sea Turtle Day:
There will be plenty of fun for all ages, from arts and crafts to educational talks. Keep your eyes open for Luna, their new Green Sea Turtle mascot (have your camera ready)!
There will be several food and drink vendors on hand. Want to go green? Bring your own water bottle and you can fill it for for free at their water station.
Parking
Hop on the free shuttle bus at Spanish River Park on Ocean Blvd, 1.5 miles north of Gumbo Limbo Nature Center (there will be no parking at Gumbo Limbo). Enter through the south gates, parking is free.
This event is open to all ages. The suggested entrance donation is $5 per person. Note that children and teens must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
This is a rain or shine event. Check their website for more details.
