I'm a wordsmith, Miami native, mom of two boys and a die-hard Floridian with one pair of closed-toed shoes. We hit the road when the school bell rings to explore everything from citrus tours and sandy shores to toddler-friendly fun and teen-approved thrills. If you're looking for the perfect Florida for your family, you'll find hundreds of ideas right here - from a mom who knows.

One of the many alligators at Everglades National Park Credit: Jill Martin, VISIT FLORIDA
We filmed our first video of the year yesterday on the many different ways to explore the Everglades with your family. My boys and I had so much fun (dad had to work - again - sorry, honey)! Yes, we played hooky from school to go trek through the Everglades on trails, on an airboat, and even on an eco-tour via a pontoon boat.
The video should be up hopefully within a month and I can't for you to see how big my boys are getting. Dustin, my 11-year-old is taller than I am now and Devon just turned 6. They're growing like weeds!
Check out the AMAZING photos that we took at Everglades National Park, the Everglades Alligator Farm and on Captain Sterling's Everglades Eco Tour. You have to do this with your kids. (And stop for lunch at Alabama Jack's on Cardsound Road on your way to Key Largo for the best-ever conch fritter. No kidding! Best ever!). The entire day was simply WOW. Your kids will love it too. We spotted TONS of alligators, all kinds of birds including a wood stork that was wearing pink shoes, according to my little one and lots of fish. We even saw a cormorant bird catch and swallow a fish that was nearly the same size as the bird itself! Oh, and the boat rides were quite a thrill.
So please stay tuned for the video. I can't wait to share this experience with you.
