I'm a wordsmith, Miami native, mom of two boys and a die-hard Floridian with one pair of closed-toed shoes. We hit the road when the school bell rings to explore everything from citrus tours and sandy shores to toddler-friendly fun and teen-approved thrills. If you're looking for the perfect Florida for your family, you'll find hundreds of ideas right here - from a mom who knows.

This one is a doozie! It's the 35th annual Harvest Festival and you need to put on your tennis shoes for this two-day event because it's HUGE. You'll find over 300 vendors from around the nation selling everything you can imagine: homemade soaps, quilts, food items, furniture, herbs, ceramics, jewelry and tons more. You'll also find the most adorable holiday crafts that can be customized for your family while you wait.
In addition to all the shopping, The Harvest has historic re-enactments, great food, antique cars, a kids' zone, a petting zoo and live music. There is so much to see but bring a big dose of patience with you as it can be crowded (but boy, is it worth it).
The Harvest will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21-22, 2009, at the Dade Fair Expo Center on Coral Way in Miami. Ninety five percent of the show is inside, so come rain or shine. For a $2 discount, bring in a can of food for donation or click the link on their website. Happy shopping!
