I'm a wordsmith, Miami native, mom of two boys and a die-hard Floridian with one pair of closed-toed shoes. We hit the road when the school bell rings to explore everything from citrus tours and sandy shores to toddler-friendly fun and teen-approved thrills. If you're looking for the perfect Florida for your family, you'll find hundreds of ideas right here - from a mom who knows.

Here's a super safe (and FUN!) alternative to trick or treating: Take your kids to Guppyween at the Florida Aquarium. Put on your best costume and trick-or-treat 'tank to tank' instead of house to house this Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Children wearing their costumes get in for only $2 (limit four kids per adult at this bargain price, please). Guests 12 and over only pay $12 per person. There will be all kinds of special children's activities along with all kind of sweet treats for your little ones to enjoy.
The Florida Aquarium is one of the top aquariums in the world with more than 20,000 aquatic plants and animals to see! They have behind-the-scenes tours, penguins and a very cool Swim With The Fishes program where ages 6 and up can swim in the coral reef tanks! You will love your visit here. Come and spend the day and bring your costume to change into at 4 p.m. for Guppyween!
The Florida Aquarium is located at 701 Channelside Dr. in Tampa. For more information, call 813-273-4000 or visit the website.Â
