I'm a wordsmith, Miami native, mom of two boys and a die-hard Floridian with one pair of closed-toed shoes. We hit the road when the school bell rings to explore everything from citrus tours and sandy shores to toddler-friendly fun and teen-approved thrills. If you're looking for the perfect Florida for your family, you'll find hundreds of ideas right here - from a mom who knows.

Fall Family Fun in Florida

September 14, 2009

I love the fall. It’s my favorite time of year in the Sunshine State. The weather cools off, the crowds are gone and the sunsets are amazing. If you’re looking for some ways to spend time with the family having fun this fall, here’s a few of my favorite picks around the state:

Pensacola Seafood Festival
Sept. 25-27, 2009
Calling all seafood lovers! The Pensacola Seafood Festival is coming up in just a few weeks. Head over to historic Seville Square and Bartram Park, where you can overlook beautiful Pensacola Bay and savor a wide variety of outstanding seafood from by hand-chosen vendors. You’ll also find a children’s area, more than 180 arts and crafts vendors, and live entertainment. And, admission is free! Call 850.433.6512 or visit their website for more info.

EPCOT Wine & Food Festival
Sept. 25-Nov. 8

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Sept.-Nov. 1 (select dates)
This is a double-header at Walt Disney World that my family loves. Spend one day at EPCOT savoring food from around the world and spend a night trick or treating around the Magic Kingdom in costume (adults too)!

Pumpkin Picking at Little Farm in the Redland
Oct. 10 to Nov. 1
Come find your perfect pumpkin whether it’s big or little at the Pumpkin Patch at Little Farm. Hours are Monday-Friday, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. In addition to finding a pumpkin to carve, you’ll find scarecrow kits, pony rides, a petting farm and a whole lot more. Admission is free!

Winter Park Autumn Art Festival
Oct. 10 & 11
This art festival has been held for more than 30 years and it just gets better all the time. You’ll find food, entertainment, children’s activities and the incredible artwork on display from about 100 talented artists.

Hollywood Beach Clambake
Oct. 16-18
Are you in the mood for some lip smackin' seafood, great music, arts and crafts, and more? Then head over to the Hollywood Beach Clambake on Hollywood Beach's oceanfront Broadwalk. Best of all, it’s free!

Disney’s A Christmas Carol Train Tour
Oct. 16-18
Get ready for a spectacular treat this Holiday Season! Disney's Christmas Carol Train Tour is touring the country and each stop provides families with a totally free day of fun for all ages. Each train car will show guests a behind-the-scenes look at the making of ‘A Christmas Carol.’ You can also see a sneak peek of the movie. Location: Goldcoast Railroad Museum, next to Miami Metrozoo

Disney’s A Christmas Carol Train Tour
Oct. 20
Jacksonville will also get a visit from Disney’s A Christmas Carol Train Tour at the Amtrak Station from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Thanks for reading - and enjoy your fall in Florida!
