When was the last time you were truly en-GROSS-ed? Animal Grossology is sure to do the trick! This nationally touring exhibit will be making its debut at the
Museum of Science & History (MOSH) in
Jacksonville beginning Saturday, October 10. Oozing with interactive elements, Animal Grossology will have you cringing (and laughing in disgust!) as you explore the ‘impolite science’ of the animal kingdom.
Animal Grossology, based on Sylvia Branzei’s book of the same name, is designed not only to be educational but completely entertaining. You and your family will love learning all kinds of interesting facts, like, did you know that leeches are used post-surgery to assist in the healing process? Or that dung beetles are nature’s living pooper-scoopers? How does slug and snail slime production help treat cystic fibrosis? You'll find out the answers to these questions (and lots more ) when you see Animal Grossology.
Some of the interactive stations you can experience are “Underwater Adventure,” an examination of the critters that live in lakes and oceans; “Chew Chew Express,” a station that has an animated cow that shows the steps of digestion (ewww!); and “Tapeworm Tug,” an up-close look at the parasites that can take up residence in digestive systems. And who could miss “Party Pooper”? Oh, yeah, this is going to be fun!
Animal Grossology runs October 10, 2009, through January 10, 2010. For more info, log on to
their website or give them a call at 904.396.MOSH. See you there!
