Thinking of visiting the fabulous
Florida Keys? Then let me tempt you further with the
18th Annual Florida Keys Island Fest. This fun-filled and tasty event will be held the weekend of April 4-5, and you’re invited! My family and I love this event and yours will, too - including your canine (more on that in a second). There will be live music, mouthwatering food and all kinds of art from pottery to paintings.
Â
Artist Victor Leong will also be there. He’s a renowned South Florida sand sculptor who’ll be creating an enormous beachfront sandcastle while you watch. He’ll even offer lessons in sandcastle construction to the young and young at heart.
Â
Island Fest is set for Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Founder’s Park, mile marker 87 bayside on
Plantation Key.
Â
Got a dog? Load ‘em up and bring ‘em along! They’ll be a Doggie Fun Zone for your furry best friend that includes special activities and photo opportunities. Bring the camera for this one.
Â
And, bring your appetite on Sunday as Islamorada’s finest restaurants will present their signature dishes in a dynamic competition for the titles of best entree, best dessert and other coveted awards in the Taste of Islamorada contest. I can't wait to try the local seafood and savory desserts (hopefully key lime anything)!

For more information, call the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce at 305-664-4503 or 800-322-5397. See you there!
