Hang gliding is my passion, and in 2006, I helped the U.S. Women's Hang Gliding Team win silver in the World Championships. An author, ultimate adventure lover, beach bunny and sand snob, I've visited almost every beach in Florida and can't wait to explore more. Join me as I flip-flop across the Sunshine State, sharing the softest sand, sweetest shores and a boatload of adventure.
Today's Key West event guaranteed to float ur flip-flops- but not ur boat! #Florida @thefloridakeys http://t.co/UbWjcM0n

Can you imagine what the fish think? Credit: Friend of Lauren
I wonder what the fish think.
I imagine them swimming along, minding their own little fishy-business, maybe thinking about the bugs they ate for breakfast or maybe a sore fin – when they suddenly see some guy hacking up a pumpkin by the reef!
The wonderfully wacky annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest splashes into Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort in Key Largo on Oct. 16, 2011. If you have a yen for some submerged spookiness this Halloween season – or at least some submerged silliness – this event has your fins written all over it!
The contest is open to all certified scuba divers and is set for 8:30 a.m. Each buddy team will receive a pumpkin – pre-hollowed-out, thankfully – to carve into a jack-o-lantern.
Space aboard the dive boat is limited, so if you want to compete, I’d advise you to surf over to Amoray's website and sign up before the next high tide. There is no contest entry fee, and the regular dive boat fee is $80 per diver for the two-tank dive. For more information call 800-426-6729.
Smells like fun to me!
