Hang gliding is my passion, and in 2006, I helped the U.S. Women's Hang Gliding Team win silver in the World Championships. An author, ultimate adventure lover, beach bunny and sand snob, I've visited almost every beach in Florida and can't wait to explore more. Join me as I flip-flop across the Sunshine State, sharing the softest sand, sweetest shores and a boatload of adventure.
Today's Key West event guaranteed to float ur flip-flops- but not ur boat! #Florida @thefloridakeys http://t.co/UbWjcM0n

You can’t beat it with a stick.
State Parks provide a perfect place to play – and they don’t leave your wallet singing the blues.
On Wednesday, a whopping six dollars bought my husband Paul and I entry into Wekiwa Springs State Park, where we spent the day exploring a vast wilderness of pine forest via bicycles. You can also canoe the river, hike, or snorkel or swim in the crystal-clear waters of the spring.
Check out my video for a glimpse at the pristine paradise - located in Apopka, just one hour from most central Florida attractions.

Hi Waltraud, Yes, I do have suggestions! Besides Wekiwa, you should mountain bike at the Santos Trailhead near Ocala. It offers over 60 miles of trails, clearly marked for level of difficulty, fun skills areas and the 'free ride' area, which is full of crazy obstacles. It's really fun to watch the hotshots there! I also love canoeing Silver Springs -- there are wild monkeys there! Lauren Tjaden VISIT FLORIDA beaches and Adventure Insider
