Official Insider Advice
Hi Mary,

What a wonderful idea. There are LOTS of fabulous places you can visit in Florida. Where you go depends on what you like to do. I assume you like adventurous activities since you’re writing me, but I don’t know if you like nature and lots of quiet time, or if you prefer an area with lots of activities and sports.

If you are into nature and things like canoeing and kayaking, you might visit the Panhandle. Adventures Unlimited near Milton is a great place to stay. You can even spice up the visit with their challenging ropes course!

Another area for a quiet vacation geared around nature and the outdoors is Crystal River, on the west coast of central Florida. You can swim with the wild manatees there and go scalloping and snorkeling, as well as hike, visit Indian burial grounds and kayak. Check out my video

The Orlando area has a zillion things to do if you want to experience adventures like horseback riding, sky diving, hang gliding, swimming with dolphins at Discovery Cove, and wakeboarding. Check out my blog this week for more details and website links.

Next week I’ll blog about Miami – another area for you if you’d like lots of things to do.

One of my favorite places is Key West, with its incredible snorkeling, scuba diving and sunset celebrations – but it’s hardly quiet. It all depends on what sounds good to YOU.

Islamorada in the Keys IS low key, and features brilliant sports fishing, diving, kite boarding and jet skiing.

I hope you have a great time here, and make some memories that will last a lifetime.

Lauren
