The influences of this demographic group are evident today with the annual St. Johns River Catfish Festival, a two-day extravaganza of music, art, exhibits and, of course, "cracker" food that's always held the first Saturday of April and the Friday before.

The Little Blue House, located in downtown Crescent City, offers Florida History, local heritage display, a gift shop and an occasional art display.

Spend the day antiquing and sampling real down-home cooking, or pack a picnic and sit on the banks of Lake Crescent in the quiet cool of a live oak canopy. Bring your canoe or rent a boat and meander down Dunns Creek. Trophy Bass fishing is encouraged – after all, you are in the heart of "Bass Capital of the World"!

It's the perfect destination to get away from the everyday rat race, yet only an hour's drive from the major metropolitan areas of Orlando, Jacksonville and Daytona Beach.
