The 30th annual regional Chili Cookoff - first Saturday in March. Contestants will compete in the largest regional chili cookoff in the nation and vie for a spot in the National Chili Cookoff. The weekend begins with a golf tournament at 8:00 AM Thursday 3rd at St. James Golf Course. $100 entry fee includes green fee, cart, practice balls, goody bag & prizes. Then on Friday, the Auction Art Preview is from 5:00 in the afternoon to 7:00 in the evening at the island's firehouse (324 E. Pine Ave.). For a $5 donation, you may preview many of the art items that will available at the next day's auction. Saturday includes the 5K Red Pepper Run (8:00 AM), the amateur Crock Pot contest with judging (10-11:00), the Auction beginning at 11:00, booth showmanship judging (11:30 - 12:15), Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce judging (starting at 12:15), taste awards (3:30). Sanctioned by the International Chili Society, over sixty contestants square off at the Gulf Coast Regional Chili Cook-off on St. George Island. The winner of what is the largest regional chili cook-off in the nation advances to the world championship, and all proceeds benefit the Island Volunteer Fire Department and First Responder Unit. Activities include a golf tournament, 5K Red Pepper Run, Chili Cook-off, Auction, and the naming of Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce. An estimated crowd of 5,000 people attended last year - we invite you to be a part of this great event this year!

Watch the Sun set and the Full Moon rise from the top of the Cape St. George Light! Tickets are $15.00 per person, of $10.00 for St. George Lighthouse Association members, and include light hors d'oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the Full Moon. After sunset, additional climbers are welcome at the top for a view of the Full Moon, as time and space permit. The Full Moon only climb is $10.00 per person and $5.00 for SGLA members. The festivities continue into the evening with a wine tasting at 6 p.m. Afterwards area chefs will prepare dishes at their restaurants pared with special wines. The evening's finale will be a professional performance at the Dixie Theatre at 8 p.m.

Festivities continue into the afternoon with a progressive wine tasting and hors d’ oeuvre from 3:00-5:00 pm.
