Why do we love the sea?  It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think.  ~ Robert Henri

Simple pleasures can indeed soothe the soul. Particularly if they involve the ocean.

Last week, in need of some smiles and just a little relaxation, I grabbed my flip-flops and bolted for Daytona Beach. I didn’t do anything astounding.

I noshed on a fish sandwich on a pier stretching into the Atlantic. I cruised the beach in my convertible with the top rolled down, with the sun on my shoulders, breathing that clean, rich, salt perfume of the ocean that could never be bottled and is better than anything that is. I dug my toes into the soft, moist sand next to the ocean. And I felt like a new person by sunset.

Check out my slideshow of this oh-so-sweet seashore!
