When it comes to grooming groms, no one can say the Florida Surfing Association doesn’t do its share.
Wait – what’s that I hear from the peanut gallery? You say you don’t know what a grom is, much less why grooming one would be desirable? That’s more than understandable!
The Wikipedia definition of a grom – aka grommet -- is a young surfer, specifically, anyone younger than you.
The third and final event in the Florida Surfing Association’s 2nd Annual Super Grom Surf Fest Series is riding into Jacksonville Beach Aug. 14, 2010, promising a swell time for all. It will be held on the south side of the Jacksonville Beach Pier from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. if surf conditions cooperate.
The event is open to participants ages 10 and under - and it's free! Plus, it includes lunch, a t-shirt, a medal and a goody bag for each participant. A parent or legal guardian must accompany each participant at all times.
Got a grom eager to make some waves? Don’t dilly-dally; participation is limited to 150 entries on a first- come, first- serve basis. I’d advise you to splash over to the Florida Surfing Association’s website for more info and to make your reservation now.
