Richard Petty NASCAR VIP Program
October 19, 2009
You could be BFF (best friends forever) with Richard Petty.

Well, maybe not best friends, but you can hang out with him at Daytona International Speedway (in Daytona Beach) and listen to him tell stories after you’ve done 50 laps in a NASCAR style racecar. No, I’m not kidding, though it’s pretty unbelievable.

You can actually spend an afternoon with Richard Petty, the seven-time NASCAR Champion known as the King, at the Speedway on Dec. 14, 2009 at the inaugural running of the Richard Petty VIP Program.

You’ll drive 50 laps over the course during six sessions at speeds up to 160 mph. You will also take an intimate tour of the Richard Petty exhibit at the DAYTONA 500 Experience®, with the King himself as your guide, sharing the stories behind many of the historic items which chronicle his 200 wins.

In case you’re wondering if 160 mph feels fast, I assure you it does. I drove a NASCAR 148 mph at Daytona once, in the Richard Petty Driving Experience, and I thought I would die of a heart attack. The corners look like mountains. Here’s a video of me there. Ha! You might be able to tell from watching it that I have enough adrenaline flowing to light up Miami.

One more suggestion: If you’ve been searching for the perfect holiday surprise for a speed-loving, special somebody in your life, you couldn’t do better than this. Give this as a gift and you’ll earn enough brownie points to open a fudge factory.
