Marathon Aviation Day Open House
October 04, 2009
Try this on for an opening: Kids can get free plane rides there.

I thought that might work. And it’s even true.

Refurbished historic "warbirds" and home-built airplanes will be displayed at the Aviation Day Open House, located at mile marker 51 at Marathon Airport in the Florida Keys, on Nov. 14, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature food and fun plus the aforementioned free plane rides for kids ages 8-17 (with appropriate permission).

The only kicker is I’m not sure how I’m going to pass for a 17-year-old. I’ve got to get into one of those warbirds over the Keys – something I’ve never done.

Never been to the Florida Keys? Check out this video of the too-cool Marathon area.

While you're in Marathon, you should head over to nearby Bahia Honda Park. This is me there.
