The truth of the old saying that says if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything becomes abundantly clear to me whenever I have the flu. The better I feel, the more I enjoy myself, accomplish, and can give to other people. Likewise, I feel one of the biggest gifts you can give your children is teaching them to eat right and that exercise is fun, because you are, in essence, giving them the gift of health.
That’s why I’m a fan of the 5th Annual ‘Tri if you Dare’ Kids Triathlon, which will be held at the Holland G. Mangum Recreation Complex in the city of Seminole on Sunday, June 28, 2009. It features three divisions:
• Super Juniors: run .25 mile, bike 1 mile, swim 25 yards
• Ages 7-10: run .6 mile, bike 2.6 miles, swim 100 yards
• Ages 11-15: run 1.2 mile, bike 3.9 miles, swim 150 yards
If you don’t plan on being in the neighborhood or are a tad long in the tooth for the “Tri if You Dare,” check out this calendar. Florida features almost as many triathlons as there are stars in the sky. Okay, perhaps that is a slight exaggeration ... |
