- Plan ahead and consolidate trips.
- Carpool or use alternate travel methods such as public transportation, bicycling or walking.
- Obey speed limits.
- Accelerate smoothly to prevent unburned gas from escaping the exhaust pipe and evaporating into the atmosphere.
- Maintain a steady speed.
- Keep tires properly inflated.
- Remove unnecessary weight such as extra items in the trunk of the car.
