Dining in the Dark...crazy thought, huh? But, at Opus 39, one of the hottest restaurants in historic St. Augustine, eating while blindfolded is very cool. I can't wait to try out this outrageous epicurean experience for myself.
Here's the deal. As soon you enter the restaurant you are delicately blindfolded and then guided to your seat. A wonderful multi-course meal, complete with wine pairings, follows. Word is, you'll be amazed by how much losing your ability to see your food helps your other senses wake up and your palate truly taste it. Once your sense of sight is no longer a primary barometer for your judgment, flavors accentuate and come alive with aroma, texture and previously ignored tastes.
This next sensational eating adventure is scheduled for Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. For $95, per person, Chef Michael McMillan will transport your tastes to new and undiscovered places.
The fun continues when at the end of the night the menu is shared with each guest. I bet it's fun to find out the familiar truth behind your fabulously concealed meal.
