Here’s some scoop on a good and enlightening time in Downtown Fort Myers starting in September through April of next year. Accomplished author Wilson Hawthorne headlines the Southwest Florida Museum of History Author’s Evening Series, “A Night at the Museum” that kicks off Sept. 9.
All season long, the museum located at 2031 Jackson Street will host a series of “Author’s Evening” events to raise money for its foundation. For $10, you’ll get the museum’s VIP treatment, including a presentation by each session’s featured author, book signings and a sweet treat from local fave Mason’s Bakery. Perhaps most exciting about this innovative series is the fact that all of the featured writers are local! What a wonderful way to learn more about the writing talent and accomplishment coming out of the great state of Florida!
And, Wilson Hawthorne is the perfect author to kick off the festivities. His book, "The Last Pirate" is an engaging tale of a young boy and his adventures off the shore of Southwest Florida. Reading the book you’ll recognize landmarks, be entertained with several sprinklings of insider knowledge and lose yourself in a whimsical world filled with imaginative excursions.
The series continues through April on the second Wednesday of every month, from 6:30-8 p.m. Chart your course for adventure and insight into what went into writing what is quickly becoming one of our state’s signature tales by calling the museum and registering now, 239-321-7430. Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. |
