A recent reader question about how to spend time in Panama City Beach reminded me of all the tremendous opportunities for foodies to get a fix along the Emerald Coast. Here's a rundown of a few of my favorite places to eat when visiting the beautiful coastline of Panama City Beach.
I'm sure I'll miss a few, so if you have the inside scoop on divine dining in Panama City Beach and find that I've missed a must-have on our definitive look at eating on the Emerald Coast, send your thoughts along on this entry's comment section. I'll check them out and quickly post Panama City Beach Great Eats: Part Two!
Let's kick it off with the Boatyard restaurant on the water at Grand Lagoon. Get ready for some serious seafood; Boatyard is where the South meets the shore. With great Southern standards like shrimp and grits and smokin' barbecue ribs, you'll get a real sense of what it means to live and eat in the Sunshine State. Caribbean-inspired dishes made with fresh fish and special sauces round out a great treat. Topped off by a breathtaking view, Boatyard is one not to be missed. You'll find this jewel behind Capt. Anderson's. 850-249-YARD.
Montego Bay Seafood, Steaks and Ribs is another supreme choice for dining in Panama City Beach. Everything from seafood gumbo to freshly caught fish make Montego Bay worthy of its name. Like the cuisine capital in Jamaica for which it's named, it will captivate you with an awesome aroma long before you darken the door. There are two locations and both are great. Try the one on Biltmore Beach and make your way on out to St. Andrews State Park and Shell Key to make a whole day of Panama City Beach play!
And, finally, no trip to Panama City Beach is complete without a jaunt through Roy's Original Chili Dogs and Burgers. Think back to boardwalks and carnivals, neighborhood diners and dives, then make the memory's setting a whole lot nicer. That's Roy's. Seriously, probably the best burger you'll ever have is sitting right in Panama City Beach waiting for your order. Located in the Shoppes at Edgewater, 499 Beckrich Road.
What's your favorite restaurant in Panama City Beach? Hopefully, you'll hook me up with some suggestions I haven't been lucky enough to find on my own and I'll be sure to pass them on to all our other readers. |
