Fresh Faces in Fashion 2008 Show
April 03, 2008
Gen Art has announced this year’s designer slate selected for Fresh Faces in Fashion 2008, which will take place on Saturday, April 12th, 2008 at the brand new Gansevoort South Hotel, Spa and Residences in Miami Beach. The seven lucky local designers to be featured include women’s wear designers Megan Huntz Dresses and Shumaq by sisters Vanessa and Jacqueline Barrantes; swimwear designer Fabiana Ferriera; menswear designer August Alexander by Courtney Alexander Russell and accessory designers Malcolm Fontier, Nazly Villamizar and Septimo by Silvia Fassardi and Gustavo Rohrscheib. They will be featured with New York designers Grace Sun and Bensoni by Benjamin Channing Clyburn and Sonia Yoon, who have both been previously showcased at Gen Art’s New York Fashion Week shows.

The event will begin at 8 p.m. with a Cocktails & Accessories Showcase at the Gansevoort South “Pool Plaza” and will feature sounds by DJ Mark Leventhal. With an ocean backdrop, the full-seated Runway Presentation will begin at 9 PM with a post-show reception to follow at 10 p.m.

“Celebrating its 5th year anniversary in Miami, Fresh Faces in Fashion has quickly become one of Miami’s most notable and respected fashion shows,” says Gen Art’s Regional Event Director, Monica Glass. “Each year more and more designers apply for Fresh Faces, which is a testament to both the program and Miami’s growing fashion industry.”

Fresh Faces in Fashion is one of Miami’s largest and most prestigious fashion events. Over the past decade, the national Fresh Faces program has catapulted the careers of current big name designers such as Zac Posen, Rebecca Taylor, Chaiken, Shoshanna, Cloak, Milly, Twinkle, Uli Herzner and Louis Verdad.

Besides boasting a long list of lofty alumni, Gen Art has proudly expanded its shows from its New York headquarters over the past few years to the top five markets in the country: Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and San Francisco, making it the largest program for emerging designers in the continent.

In order to participate in the show, Miami designers must have been designing under their own label for one to seven years, have at least one retail account and be based out of Florida or Georgia. The New York designers have been showcased previously by Gen Art and are currently working to expanding their business and retail accounts in the South Florida region. Selected designers are able to participate in Fresh Faces in Fashion at no cost to them.

Tickets for the event are $45 for General Admission and $75 for VIP Access (with discounts for Gen Art members). Seated tickets are only available to Gen Art Associate Producer & Higher Level Members.

To purchase tickets or to become a Gen Art member, go to www.genart.org or call 305-695-8200. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the Gen Art Foundation. Approved fashion industry professionals including media and buyers will also receive VIP guest tickets and/or seating at the event.
