| This year’s Cinco de Mayo Festival in Downtown Delray Beach will feature a Selena Impersonation Contest. The contest will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Cinco de Mayo Festival in the yard of Old School Square. All contest entries must be received by April 4, 2008.
Preliminary judging will take place in Old School Square’s gymnasium on Sunday, April 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Contestants who advance to the finals will perform on Saturday, May 3 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the Cinco de Mayo Festival. Contestants will be divided into two age groups: six to 12, and 13 to 19. Individuals will be judged on costume, singing ability, and stage presence and personality. All applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4. The registration fee is $15. The Cinco de Mayo Festival has something for the whole family to enjoy. The all-day festival will feature the second annual Chihuahua Race, live music, dancing, traditional foods, colorful costumes, games and piñatas. Admission is $10 for adults; children under five are free. The festival is produced by the Hispano-Latino Cultural Alliance, and proceeds benefit the Hispano-Latino Cultural Alliance.
