Hola. In my last blog we began talking about Orlando's nightlife scene. I concentrated on the underground DJ and dance music scene that helped shape its world-class nightlife scene -- mostly located in Downtown Orlando and Thornton Park.
Let’s continue on Wall Street Plaza on Orange Avenue which has a multitude of bars, each with a different flavor. Wall Street Cantina offers outdoor seating for a relaxing place to have a cocktail, listen to music and people watch. Live music events are also held during Cinco de Mayo and St. Patrick’s Day each year. You can also dance it up in the attached, One-Eyed Jacks featuring an oversized bar and a stage for brave music lovers to step up and dance. Now, the only way you would ever catch me jumping up there was if I was extra, extra ...
Just next door, the Loaded Hog (I that name) provides an intimate setting with small two-person booths. Across the plaza is Slingapours and Tuk Tuk, with two attached nightclubs that alternate between live music and DJs spinning the latest in hip-hop, house and techno.
Moving to Church Street Station, the main attraction is a tri-level complex featuring different bars on each floor. On the ground is Chillers, which takes its name from the specialty frozen drinks with funky names it serves. It features a DJ spinning the latest in the Top 40 music. On the mid-level, Big Belly Brewery provides a laid-back atmosphere with big barrels of peanuts as bar food; and Latitudes, a rooftop bar which often features live reggae music and boasts a great view of the Orlando skyline.
New to Orlando’s hip nightlife is The Beacon, which is located in the nearby trendy Thornton Park. Also in the neighborhood is Dexter’s, Hue and Midnight Blue which fit perfectly in this cosmopolitan environment.
Going back to my first blog on this topic, you can easily see why my friend was so mistaken! Orlando comes alive as the sun goes down! For more information on Orlando's nightlife, visit www.orlandoinfo.com/nightlife.
Have fun! And keep living life large... Ciao!
