An Delicious Dining Option in Fernandina Beach
October 28, 2008

Picking up where I left off on my last blog on the Girls Getaway weekend to Amelia Island, we decided to go into the Historic District in Fernandina Beach to taste the local culinary treats. With more than 40 distinctive restaurants from which to choose, we were surprised at the variety of enticing dining options.

This little barrier island is home to an eclectic and authentic mix of cuisine, ranging from the freshest Florida seafood, to authentic Italian and Mexican specialties. We had to choose from waterfront seafood hangouts, fine dining restaurants presided over by extraordinary chefs or the quiet intimate bistro (which wouldn't work since we were minus husbands). Amelia Island’s menu of restaurants provides a satisfying selection of dining encounters that make a lasting memory out of every meal.

After walking the Centre Street, we  headed to a local favorite, Beech Street Grill  which provides an upscale dining experience, but with the comforts of home, stellar service and live music by resident pianist John Springer. They are known for their Blackboard Specials which showcase the island’s freshest seafood, seasoned with freshly-cut herbs, homemade sauces and chutneys.

With an emphasis on quality and detail, Chef Rick Erickson creates culinary masterpieces, such as broiled scallops with arugula and oven roasted salmon and wild mushroom roulade. To top off the perfect meal, guests can feast on white chocolate cheesecake with a mixed berry sauce or my favorite, the Granny Smith apple bread pudding.

Life life large and enjoy every taste of it!

 Ciao!
