"Jazz is played from the heart. You can even live by it. Always love it.” - Louis Armstrong
Hola! There seems to be an entertainment trend in Florida when Spring arrives - MUSIC FESTIVALS! Aside from shopping, music makes me very, very happy! Music is one of the few things in this world that touches everyone's soul in one way or another. It is my favorite form of artistic expression.
Below are some of the upcoming music festivals taking place throughout Florida:
Seabreeze Jazz Festival in Panama City Beach - This musical celebration will take place April 16-19 at the Pier Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Internationally acclaimed vocalist and guitarist, Nick Colionne, will be hosting the event, and Boney James is the event's headliner (for the past 5 weeks James has held the #1 Album on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz charts). Pier Park is a great place to hold this event with more than 150 shops and restaurants. Check out my video blog on it! Other musicians participating include Four80East, Shilts and Matt Marshak, to name just a few.
Sunfest in Palm Beach is the largest waterfront music and art festival in Florida. It will take place April 27-May 3. Different types of genres will be front and center at this event; performances by UB40, David Cook, Spyro Gyra, James Taylor, Tonic, Candlebox and many more.
A Salute to the Music of Frank Sinatra is another musical celebration worth checking out. Direct from Las Vegas, Steve Lippia returns to West Palm Beach with Bob Lappin and The Palm Beach Pops to honor the music of good Ol' Blue Eyes April 5-7 and April 10-11.
The 2009 Jacksonville Jazz Festival will showcase passionate jazz performances in downtown Jacksonville including Laura Street which will become the jazz fest's headquarters. This event will take place May 21-24.
I have already covered the Daytona Beach International Festival in a few blogs, but it is still worth mentioning again including the Late Night Series of the event. It will take place April 16-May 2.
If you plan to attend any of the musical festivities above, have a wonderful time! Enjoy it for me. Ciao!
