The Daytona Beach International Festival Late Night Series
March 18, 2009
Hola! As some of you know, I love music ... any type of music makes my soul happy!  Ok - maybe with the exception of heavy metal and some hip hop. It is for this reason earlier this month, I showcased the Daytona Beach International Festival (DBIF) on my blog.

As promised, I will feature some of the entertaining events taking place during this music fest.  Let's begin with The Festival Late Night Series - it was designed to introduce a younger generation to experience the Festival in more intimate settings while capturing their love and passion for this form of artistic expression.

Below are some of the main events taking the stage during the Late Nights:

Sophie Milman: This 24-year-old Russian-born singer has delighted audiences around the world, sold more than 100,000 records and won a Juno.  Her passionate and critically acclaimed voice has performed with international musical superstars like Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers, Chick Corea and Jesse Cook. Takes place:  April 17-18, 10 p.m. at the Bank and Blues Club in Daytona Beach.  Entrance fee is $28.

Salsa Under the Stars with Tiempo Libre: Dance the night away with this Grammy-nominated
salsa band. This is a new event to the Festival, and it will offer festivalgoers a chance to dance the night away. Tiempo Libre has been recognized as the  "Best Latin Band 2008" by the New York Times. Takes place: Friday, April 24, 10 p.m. at the Shores Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach Shores; Entrance fee is $20.

Chuchito Valdes Jazz Trio: Chuchito returns to DBIF; this band leader and artist will introduce music lovers to his Afro-Cuban based Latin-Jazz Ensemble and create an unforgettable night full of Bebop, Cha-Cha-Cha and Afro-Cuban Latin Jazz sounds and rythmns. Takes place: April 30 - May 2, 10 p.m., Bank and Blues Club in Daytona Beach; Entrance Fee is $28.

PROJECT: Last and definitely not least, this dynamic young group, PROJECT, will dazzle audiences with their incredible fusion of jazz and world music. PROJECT prides itself on blurring the lines of classical music with their own artistic interpretations. Takes place:  April 23 and 25, 10 p.m. at the Bank & Blues Club in Daytona Beach; Entrance fee is $20.

Enjoy the beats of the night during the Late Night Series at the DBIF!  Have fun.   Ciao!
