Hola! For those of you who are not aware, the Chinese New Year is right around the corner. On Jan. 26, the Mandarin Oriental, Miami will be honoring this celebration with a vibrant affair that will usher in the Year of the Ox.
The festivities will take place at Café Sambal starting at 8 p.m. with festive Chinese décor and an exciting, traditional lion dance show which will capture the meaning of the season. There will be a special menu where guests can choose from special Chinese New Year selections.
To commemorate this event, all guests will receive a ‘red packet’ filled with wishes of good health and good fortune. The celebration will take place until Friday, Jan. 30.
For the Chinese, this celebration is extremely significant because it symbolizes the Earth’s new beginning. The Chinese culture utilizes a lunar calendar based on the moon’s cycle to create its zodiac signs and 12 animals to represent the 12 signs of the Chinese horoscope.
According to the Chinese calendar, the zodiac sign of the Ox is the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Persons born under this powerful sign are born leaders, being quite dependable and possessing an innate ability to achieve great things. Happy New Year! Ciao!
