Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day Is October 3rd
September 29, 2009

This Sat., Oct. 3, hop on your fat tire bike and take a kid along for the ride! Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day is brought to you by IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) and is the perfect opportunity for kids to discover the sport.

Florida has plenty of scheduled events that you can attend, with clinics geared toward new riders and group rides. By the way, there are some seriously awesome young riders in Florida -- I've seen several out in the freeride area of Santos drawing a huge crowd of adults who were amazed at their skills! So, make sure to bring along those riders with crazy skills out to inspire others.

Here are a few events that I found. Make sure to check IMBA's website for a location near you. Or, contact your local bike shop who may have knowledge of events that aren't listed.

Santos Trailhead - Belleview

Meet up at the Santos Trailhead at 9:30 a.m. for skill lessons and other family-friendly events. BYOB (Bring your own bike) and helmet. Event is sponsored by the Ocala Mountain Bike Association.

Markham Park - Sunrise

South Florida's Club Mud will be having a skills clinic and demonstrations starting at 9 a.m. Entry to the park is only $1.50 per person, and there is a free lunch at noon!

IMBA-SORBA's Tallahassee chapter will be having a group ride at 3 p.m. along the St. Marks Trail. Visit www.tallahasseemountainbike.com for specifics.
