Get ready for music, art and plenty of education! Next Saturday, Sept. 26, is the 8th Annual Marion County Springs Festival, and this year the event will be held at Rainbow Springs State Park in Dunnellon. Want to know more about the importance of the Floridan Aquifer? The Springs Fest is a celebration of this vital natural resource, so make sure to sit in on some of the discussions on how you can help preserve and protect it.
Also scheduled during the event will be guided hikes, paddles and beginning birding lessons. For woodworkers, stop and check out some of the carved birds and lathe-turned bowls. There will also be a native plant sale, so perhaps you'll pick up a few things and create your own Certified Florida-Friendly Landscape!
If you haven't attended the Marion County Springs Festival before, here's a video from the 2008 event at Silver River State Park to give you an idea of what's going on. Also, for more information, make sure to visit http://www.springsfest.org. |
