In Lakeland? Take a Stroll at Gator Creek Reserve
September 10, 2009

If you are looking for a great place to take a short hike or run near Lakeland, swing in to Gator Creek Reserve. It's located just north of town, on US 98.

I was in the Lakeland area today, and spent an hour or so in the afternoon on the Piney Wood and Gator Creek loop trails. I've been here a few times before, geocaching and hiking. Gator Creek Reserve lies just on the edge of the Green Swamp, where you'll find the headwaters of the Hillsborough, Ocklawaha, Peace and Withlacoochee rivers.

Ready to make the trip? Bring along insect spray, comfy shoes (no need for hiking boots) and some water.  The trails are short but beautiful!
