New Beetle Discovered Near Auburndale
August 31, 2009

Hey bug lovers - I've got some news for you! A beetle collected in 2007 has been recently identified as a new species, which has been named the Auburndale scrub scarab. Neato!

It just goes to show you that Florida still has plenty to discover - it's a wild place! Also, the beetle was found by Donna Stark, a volunteer helping to improve Florida's database on rare invertebrates. That's a perfect example of the great work that volunteers do to protect and maintain Florida's natural wonders.

If you are in the Auburndale area, keep your eyes out for the scrub scarab!
