Are you a nature lover looking for the perfect place to visit during these summer months? If so, you must check out Blowing Rocks Preserve in Hobe Sound. Located on Florida's southeast coast, it's 30 miles north of West Palm Beach.
The preserve is a barrier island sanctuary on Jupiter Island and home to a wide variety of wildlife, including loggerhead, leatherback and green turtles which nest at night right there on the beach. Now is a great time to visit because nesting lasts from April through September. There is much to see and experience at the 73-acre preserve, including a butterfly garden with native plants and a beach-side nature trail.
The preserve is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day except for holidays. The cost to access the beach is $2 per person and $1 for Nature Conservancy members. Better yet, if you're planning on year-round visits, get an individual annual pass for $37 or a group pass for up to six people for $65. Children 12 and under get in free.
