Nature's Wonders: An Educational and Very Fun Amenity for Kids at the Ritz-Carlton Naples
November 12, 2009
One thing I love about the Ritz-Carlton chain of hotels is that the company knows how to cater for everyone in your entourage -- whether it's via an amazing spa experience, myriad dining options, or, in this particular case, a fun-with-learning experience that shines the light on Florida's natural beauty while catering to the hotel's youngest guests.
I'm talking about Nature's Wonders at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples. Added to the resort in 2007, this fascinating nature center showcases marine environments from around the world. You can see Lionfish (originally from the Indian Ocean), pulsating jellyfish in tanks, baby Florida alligators and turtles and even Nemo lookalikes. There's an interesting display about Florida mangroves, too, which you can see right in front of the resort in their natural mangrove environment. And the center is staffed by trained naturalists who can tell you all about what you're seeing as well as walk your kids through lab experiments to look at things they've collected on the beach under a microscope. How cool is that!?
Half- and full-day programs are offered for kids ages 5 to 12.
If you're staying at the resort, there's an open house daily at Nature's Wonders from 4:30-5:30 p.m. And believe me, adults get just as much of a kick out of seeing the displays here as the kids do! Case in my point, yours truly. Check out my video below to see what I'm so excited about!
