Labor Day Luxury on a Budget - Get a Deal on a Great Holiday Weekend Escape!
August 07, 2009
I love, love, love a luxury deal. And when it happens to coincide with a holiday weekend, namely Labor Day weekend, well, by all means--bring on the lap-of-luxury savings!

This recession has some serious hotel bargains popping up in Florida's luxury market. And to my very pleasant surprise, I'm not seeing too many of those clauses about blackout dates on holiday weekends. This means you can plan a last-minute getaway for Labor Day weekend, and still reel in big savings off regular room rates.

I've done my research to come up with enticing Labor Day weekend rates at luxury properties across the Sunshine State. And you'll find more by checking out VISIT FLORIDA's Vacation Auction and hotel deals page. Luxury bargain hunters, start your engines. These Labor Day weekend specials practically plan your vacation for you:
  • The Resort at Singer Island's Florida resident rates apply to Labor Day weekend stays, too. One-bedroom suites with full kitchens and pool views start at just $175.20 per night, and two-bedroom suites with ocean views start at $215.20. I recommend this resort for family luxury escapes as well as romantic getaways--it's five-star all the way and fronts a stunning beach. Kids will love the twisty water slide and lagoon pool.
  • The Loews resorts at Universal Orlando are also offering terrific Labor Day weekend rates for Florida residents. At Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando, rooms start at $189 per night (you'll save 30 percent on weekend stays!). At the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando, rates are from $179 per night. And at Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando, the Florida resident rates dip as low as $159 per night!
  • The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami tempts with a City Re-Connect Package over Labor Day Weekend, with rooms starting from $215 and resort credits of $100 for dining and spa services when you stay two nights (or get $200 in resort credits for three-night stays).
  • Boca Raton Resort & Club is offering two rooms for the price of one over Labor Day weekend, appealing to groups of families and friends traveling together. Imagine--you book two rooms for two families, and end up splitting the cost of one room!
  • LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort in Naples has rates as low as $149 per night for Labor Day Weekend, and a Stay & Play package with resort credits and discounts on greens fees. If you stay for three nights, they'll throw in a fourth night for free!
  • The Atlantic Hotel, Fort Lauderdale treats Sunshine State residents to special Florida Resident Rates, good Labor Day weekend. The package includes a grand deluxe oceanfront room, breakfast for two each morning and complimentary valet parking from just $169 per room, per night.
  • Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami tempts golfers with the Unlimited Golf Summer package starting at $99 per person per night over Labor Day Weekend, which includes 18 holes of golf daily, breakfast  and one introductory golf clinic per day.
  • Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale is throwing in a third night for free when you book a room for two nights, with rates starting at $219 per night.
  • Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort appeals to your subconscious with the Guilt-Free Getaway package, with complimentary upgrades to an island-view room and resort credits of $50 per day. Room rates start at $344 over Labor Day Weekend for the package deal (or $289 for room only).
  • Costa D'Este Beach Resort in Vero Beach is featuring a Summer of Savings package that's applicable Labor Day weekend, too, with weekday rates starting from $99 per night and weekend rates from $119.
Whew! So many ways to save on a Labor Day weekend holiday. Get busy planning!

And while Labor Day weekend may symbolize the end of summer, I'll be toasting my lucky stars that I live in Florida, where the good weather vibes last all year long!

What are the codes to use to avail of the Florida Resident rates? I've already called two hotels on this list and they don't seem to know anything about this.
