May is Florida Golf Month
April 28, 2009

Spring in 2009 has been wonderful with the cool evenings and mornings lingering much longer than normal. The end of April usually means the beginning of summer for Floridians even if the summer solstice is more than a month away.

The heat and humidity may be on the rise, but golf in May brings courses with less crowds and the resulting reduced greens fees. Most of our seasonal residents use Easter as their benchmark for venturing back north. Most golf course operators recognize this and use the May 1 date to reduce their greens fees to "Summer Rates."

In my opinion this is a great time to get out and play; the days are long allowing you to sneak in a quick 9 or 18 after work. With reduced rates, more daylight and less golf course demand, you really have no excuse not to get out and play.

Check your local course rates or use one of the following services to save even more money at this great time of year. Check out great golf deals in Florida at golf.VISITFLORIDA.com.
