FSAG Mid-Am Stroke Play begins Today
April 24, 2009

The FSGA Mid-Am is being contested today through Sunday at the legendary Sara Bay in Sarasota.

This event features some of the best male amateur golfers in the state over the age of 25. Included in this field is the FSGA's Tournament Director Peter Dachisen who is taking a week off from work to compete. Peter is a multiple champion of the annual Gasparilla Invitational held at Palma Ceia that always attracts a strong field.

Sara Bay is one of Florida's golf gems as it played host to many of the games early pioneers. Players such as Bobby Jones and Tommy Armour wintered in the Sarasota area and honed their games on this great Donald Ross-designed course.

The history of this 1926 layout, originally known as Whitfield Estates CC, adds another chapter this week. If you are in the area, spectating is free and the golf will be good.
