Comedian Bill Murray has committed to play in this week's Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am at TPC Tampa Bay outside of Tampa in Lutz.

For all golfers, Murray is best remembered for his role as Carl Spangler in the classic golf comedy Caddyshack. His acting resume has much better performances, but none have been as quoted in golf matches like the lines he had in Caddyshack.

Chances are he will be paired with good friend and fellow Californian Scott Simpson, a former US Open Champion and current Champions Tour player. Murray's golf game is quite sound with a nice rhythmic swing and deft touch around the green.

The Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am is the only tournament of its kind on the Champions Tour combining celebrities during the actual action. The golf course is a pleasant walk and the antics of the tournaments participants is never scripted but can be quite humorous.
