| Northwest Florida’s Camp Creek and Shark’s Tooth Ranked High by Golf Digest |

When you travel to Northwest Florida to play golf you must stop by the WaterColor Inn and Resort in Santa Rosa Beach near Panama City. It is a first class place to stay and it gets you in to play a couple of the top courses in the state. The Shark’s Tooth (a Greg Norman design) and Camp Creek (a Tom Fazio creation) have recently been ranked 8th and 19th respectively in the state by Golf Digest in its 2009-2010 “The World’s Greatest Golf”.
Not long ago I got the chance to stay at the WaterColor Inn (right on the beach with top-tier service) and visit both courses. Shark’s Tooth is a private club that allows select tee times for guests of the Inn, and Camp Creek has recently been opened to public play as well as resort guests. Both are championship-caliber tracks that will test your game.
Norman’s Shark’s Tooth is beautifully sited on the banks of Lake Powell as it tracks through the woods and is a joy to play. I enjoy all of Tom Fazio’s designs, and when he crafted Camp Creek he created a new term for the work he did – not landscaping, but “dunescaping” to build this special layout in the Florida sand dunes.
