| The GOLF CHANNEL, headquartered in Orlando, has begun filming a new reality-type television show called “Highway 18”. In the show, five, two-person teams are pitted against other teams to compete in golf “road rally” type events that involve an assortment of landmarks and other places to test their skill during the 10 weeks of episodes.
To begin opening day of filming, the first task the players had to face was the Challenge Hole at the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine. The Challenge Hole is a replica of what players encounter at the famous island green 17th hole at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course. After the players finished the Challenge Hole, they had to race up to the Trophy Tower in the WGHOF to receive orders for their next golfing test.
To their surprise and delight, Hall of Famer Arnold Palmer was there to greet them. To see the “King” in the Trophy Tower room (that is multiple stories above the grounds at the WGHOF with all the important awards and trophies from major golf tournaments around the world) must have been quite overwhelming.
Look for this new show to premiere on the GOLF CHANNEL July 22, 2008. |
